Porno guys got cheap multi-year leases on most of “ The Deuce” and surrounding blocks. Formerly unrentable retail stores became “storefront theaters.” A plywood partition was built to house the projector, the back wall was painted white or a sheet hung up, a few dozen folding chairs were lined up, and the windows were blacked out. Usually a window had something on it to entice you in - a painted silhouette of a naked woman or a glaring cheap sign, framed out in
